We’ve read that airline passengers won’t allow a hijacking, but here’s story from New Zealand of a woman with a knife who attempted to hijack a small plane in flight. A female passenger attempted to stop her, but the hijacker cut the passenger’s hand, and no one did anything more. 

 The hijacker cut both the pilot and copilot with her knife and demanded to be flown to Australia. The jet carried only six passengers; it was a small commuter jet capable of carrying 19. Perhaps if the plane had had more passengers, more would have taken action to subdue her.

Since the flight was entirely intra-New Zealand, there are no security checks of passengers.
